William Cyrus Sawyer, age 84, of Asheboro passed away on June 16, 2025 at the Randolph Hospice House.
Mr. Sawyer was born in the Farmer Community of Randolph County on January 16, 1941 to Howard and Mae Rich Sawyer. William served his country in the U.S. Navy and following his service, he spent time working for the Pentagon. In addition to his parents, William was preceded in death by his brother, Marvin Sawyer. He loved to race his ’55 Ford and may or may not have flipped a car in the school parking lot. William was a farmer and gardener and loved apple trees and grapevines. He loved reading and photography, which is how he met his wife, Miss Jane. William was a great dad and friend and could make a delicious bourbon pecan pie. He hated dealing with antagonistic squirrels.
He is survived by his wife of 23 years, Jane, whom he absolutely adored; son, Michael Sawyer; daughter, Vicki Sawyer (Vernon Sides); granddaughter, Maddie; Jane’s sons, Randy (Ann) and Darren (Jenny); Jane’s granddaughters, Emily, Sara, and Alder; sisters, Martha Sawyer and Ruth Woo (Jon); and brother, Carl Sawyer (Linda).
