William Wesley Hodgin, 78, of Sophia passed away Monday, July 20, 2026 in Asheboro, NC along with his loving partner of 20 years, Linda Davis. He was born September 25, 1947 in Guilford County, NC to William C. Hodgin and Helen Faye Wall Hodgin.
Wes will be remembered as a loving, caring, and compassionate family man and member of his community. His love of music led him to play bass guitar and flat-top guitar, in his favorite styles of Bluegrass and Gospel. Wes was a lover of the outdoors; coon-hunting and gardening. In his youth, Wes enjoyed riding, breaking, and training horses with his dad. He was a loyal and faithful member of Mt. Olive Wesleyan Church. His love for the Lord was equal to his love for his family, children, and grandchildren. Wes will be loved and missed by all who knew him.
Wes is survived by his sister, Aretta Reddick (Lanny); daughter, Tammy Louise East Mann; son, Drexel William Hodgin; grandchildren, Bruce Raymond East, Jr., Zachary Hunter East, Tina Sheeron, Tyler Sheeron, Crystal Lewis, Preston Smith; great-grandchildren, Jessie and Bryson Lewis. In addition to his parents, Wes is preceded in death by his daughter, Tina Michelle Hodgin and his loving partner, Linda Davis.
The family will receive friends on Tuesday, July 28, 2026 from 12:00 PM – 1:50 PM at Pugh Funeral Home, 437 Sunset Ave, Asheboro. Funeral service will start at 2:00 PM in the chapel with Reverend Wayne Byrd officiating. Burial will follow at Randolph Memorial Park.
