William Douglas "Doug" Smith

William Douglas “Doug” Smith, age 80, of Asheboro passed away on March 2, 2026 at the Randolph Hospice House.

Mr. Smith was born in Charlotte, NC on July 2, 1945 to William and Betty Shumate Smith. Doug served his country in the U.S. Marine Corps for 4 years and fought in the Vietnam War. He was employed with Randolph Electric Membership Corporation where he served in many different capacities, retiring as a supervisor for the meter readers. Doug loved animals, especially dogs, and loved playing golf. He enjoyed visiting the beach with family and friends.

He is survived by his wife of 54 years, Pamela Bunting Smith; and sisters, Linda Marshall of Greensboro and Debbie McBride of Indiana.

A graveside memorial service will be held on Friday, March 13, 2026 at 2:00 pm at New Hope Memorial Gardens with Rev. Mark Wilburn officiating and with military honors by the Randolph County Honor Guard.
