Wallace “Wally” Swaim, 80, of Sophia passed away on Wednesday, December 31, 2025 at Randolph Hospice House in Asheboro, NC. He was born July 7, 1945, in Randleman, NC to Joseph Prevo Swaim and Ruth Agnes Caudle Swaim.
Wally will be remembered as a loving and caring husband, father, grandfather, uncle, and friend. He was a lifetime resident of Randolph County. Wally proudly served his country during the Vietnam War as a Sargeant in the Army. Upon his return, he worked as a sewing machine mechanic at Caudle Sewing Company. He was a licensed state beekeeper, worked on tractors, and in his spare time loved to fish. Wally will be loved and missed by all who knew him.
Wally is survived by his loving wife of 57 years, Bonnie Swaim of the home; son, Larry Wallace Swaim of Sophia; grandchildren, Michael Patrick, John Donovan; siblings, Carolyn Ruth Swaim (Terry) of Climax; nieces and nephews, Alan, Danny, Catha, Lisa, Bobby, David, Joe, Bonnie. He is preceded in death by his daughter, Tammy Swaim; siblings, Joe Swaim, Duane Swaim, Vernie Swaim, Frances Swaim Stillwell.
The family will receive friends from 2:00 – 2:45 PM on January 6, 2026 at Pugh Funeral Home, 600 S. Main Street in Randleman. A graveside service will follow at Randolph Memorial Park.
