Virginia Howell Cooper, age 83, of Asheboro passed away on Wednesday, August 19, 2020 at Moses H. Cone Memorial Hospital.
Mrs. Cooper was born in Randolph County on April 24, 1937 to C.C. (Red) and Berta Meggs Howell. She was a 1955 graduate of Asheboro High School. Virginia was retired from Walmart after 13 years of service. She was a member of West Bend United Methodist Church, where she enjoyed singing in the choir. In addition to her parents, Virginia was preceded in death by her husband, Darrell Cooper and her siblings, John Howell, Phyllis Cooper, Jim Howell, and Bob Howell. Virginia never met a stranger. She loved her dogs and her cat, Tom Roy, but most of all she loved her family.
She is survived by her daughters, Ronda Gay Hunt of Asheboro, Fonda Kay Hughes and husband Ron of Wendell, Jennifer Brower and husband David of Franklinville; sons, Chris Cooper and wife Mimi of Franklinville, and Patrick Cooper and wife Dorothy of Asheboro; 10 grandchildren; 9 great grandchildren; and sister, Sue King and husband Mike of Carolina Beach; brother-in-law, Harry Cooper of Asheboro; sister-in-law, Elizabeth Howell of Asheboro.
A memorial graveside service will be held on Thursday, August 27, 2020 at 2:00 pm at the West Bend United Methodist Church Cemetery with Rev. Kari Howard officiating.
