Virginia Willette Coley

Virginia Willette Coley, age 86, passed away peacefully on Friday, November 12, 2025 at Westchester Manor in High Point.

Virginia was born on September 19, 1939 in Chatham County, NC to Austin and Callie Brooks Willette. Virginia is a 1957 graduate of Goldston High School where she was Valedictorian, a member of the basketball team, and served on the homecoming court. Virginia worked for 56 years in the insurance field. She received the highest level of insurance certification possible. Virginia felt called to help protect people and companies through insurance and became a mentor to many new agents. In her youth, she was a member at Sandy Branch Baptist Church were she played the piano and organ, and later in life had membership at Balfour Baptist Church. She had a passion for music and singing. Virginia was known for her baked goods, especially her pound cakes, chess bars, and oatmeal cookies. In addition to her parents, Virginia is preceded in death by her husband of 61 years, Bobby Lee Coley; brothers, Curry and Theron Willette; and sisters, Ruby Andrew, and Betty Jean Caviness.

Virginia is survived by her son, B. Lynn Coley (Joan); daughter, Jan Coley Sweeney (Caleb); grandchildren, Mikalla Baynes (Michael), Scott Johnson (Kassi), Danielle Mehaffey (Sean), and Chris Johnson, great grandchildren, Kennedy and Reagan Johnson, Harper, Landon and Savannah Mehaffey, Emily Johnson and Lainey Baynes.

The family will be holding a private service and a celebration of life service will be held at a later date.

The family would like to extend a special thank you to Brenda and Donnie for the love and care they gave to Virginia. The family would also like to thank Pam Walker for the meaningful and special friendship she had with Virginia.

Memorials may be made in Virginia’s honor to Hospice of the Piedmont, 1801 Westchester Drive, High Point, NC 27262.
