Mr. Vernon Bentley McDaniel 90 of Kernersville passed away peacefully Saturday, September 26, 2026, at the Hospice House of Asheboro.  He was a native of Georgia but spent his life serving mostly churches in North Carolina.  He graduated high school from Robert E. Lee High School in Thomaston, GA. in 1954 and went on to graduate from Wake Forest University in 1961 where he received a Bachelor of Arts Degree.  He later attended Southwestern Theological Seminary in Fort Worth Texas where he earned a Bachelor of Divinity.  He then went on to become a Baptist minister for 61 years serving the churches of Durham Memorial Baptist, Stallings Memorial Baptist, Second Baptist in College Park, GA, First Baptist Church in Asheboro, NC and Glenwood Presbyterian in Greensboro, NC. After retirement from the ministry, he went on to become a Funeral Director working for Pugh Funeral Home.  A faithful servant to the very end!

He is survived by Faye A. McDaniel of Asheboro, daughters Lynn McDaniel Setzer (Steve) of Greensboro, NC, and Laura McDaniel Gardner (Terry) of Asheboro. Two grandchildren, Blaize Gardner (Nicole) of Asheboro and Ashlyn Setzer of Wilmington.

Rev. McDaniel led two preaching mission trips to South America in Brazil and Chile and tour groups to the Holy Land and Europe.  He also authored and published a devotional book, "Walking with God".

A Service of Witness to the Resurrection will be 2:00pm Tuesday, September 29, 2026, at the Pugh Funeral Home, "Glen Mac Pugh Chapel," 437 Sunset Avenue, Asheboro, NC.  The family will receive friends prior to the service from 1:00-1:50. A private family burial will follow the service.
