Veola Hanner

Veola Craven Hanner, age 89, of Asheboro died Saturday, June 21, 2014 at the Randolph Hospice House of Asheboro. Ms. Hanner was born March 24, 1925 the daughter of Fletcher and Lillie Welborn Craven. Ms. Hanner was a native of Randolph County, former employee of Belk-Yates and retired from Briles Oil Company. Veola was the last Charter Member living of the Asheboro United Church of Christ. The Hanner family would like to give a special thanks to Tricia and her staff of Heaven Sent Private Care and Jodi and special thanks to the Hospice House of Asheboro for their loving care. In addition to her parents, Veola is preceded in death by her husband Robert "Bob" Hanner, sisters, Aileen Nance and Daphne Boone and brothers, Sherman and Paul Craven. She is survived by daughter Phyllis H. Lewis and husband Stan of Asheboro; granddaughter, Kelly Jon Lewis of Asheboro; nephew, Steve Craven and wife Sue of Asheboro; niece, Kateria Boone of Asheboro, NC. The family will receive friends on Tuesday, June 24, 2014 from 9:45 -10:45 a.m. at Pugh Funeral Home, 437 Sunset Avenue, Asheboro, NC. The funeral will follow the visitation at 11:00 a.m. at the Pugh Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Tom Benedict officiating. Burial will be in Oaklawn Cemetery in Asheboro.
