Trina Thomas Mathena

Trina Michelle Thomas Mathena, age 44, of Asheboro passed away on Monday, February 6, 2017 at the Randolph Hospice House Ms. Mathena was born in Mullens, WV on December 24, 1972. Trina was a 2001 graduate of Bluefield State University and was formerly employed as a Health Care Assistant. Trina was preceded in death by her father Ralph Davis Thomas, grandparents, Ralph Thomas, and Willis and Wilma Akers. She is survived by her sons, Bradley Smith of Asheboro and Shannon "Shane" Smith of Sanford; mother, Dianna Hutchins of Matoaka, WV; stepson, Cody Mathena of Princeton, WV; sisters, Milissa Hylton and husband David of Graham and Misty Thomas of Winston-Salem; and paternal grandmother, Mary Thomas of Denver. A memorial service will be held at a later date. Memorials may be made to Duke Cancer Institute for Brain Cancer, "Angels Among Us," Duke Health Development and Alumni Affairs, 710 W.
