Timothy Otis Gooch

Timothy “Tim” Otis Gooch, age 74 of Denton, passed away on Saturday, November 1, 2025 at his home.

Tim was born on October 5, 1951 in Randolph County to the late Reginald and Lottie Hamilton Gooch. Tim graduated from Farmer school with the class of 1969 and was a member at Ophir Methodist Church. He owned and operated his own hauling company, Tim Gooch Trucking, and was known to many with the handle of “fishhook”. Tim loved his family and spending time with them. One of his favorite times was what he called “Christmas Chaos” with his grandchildren. Tim was an avid fisherman with surf fishing being what he enjoyed the most. Tim loved to cook and was known for fixing a delicious steak and some incredible Sunday morning pancakes.

Tim is survived by his wife, Becky Gooch; sons, Jon Gooch of Archdale, and Grant Gooch (Sabrina) of Troy; daughter, Kerri Gooch Blue (Adrian) of Whispering Pines; grandchildren, Kassidi Lauren Craven (Drew), Braeden Gooch, Savannah Gooch, Grayson Gooch, Klay Blue, and Kash Blue; great grandchild, Maxwell Craven; and his faithful canine companion, Dylan.

The family will receive friends on Sunday, November 2, 2025 from 4:00 pm to 6:00 pm at the Pugh Troy Funeral Home, 211 North Main St., Troy. The funeral service will take place on Monday, November 3, 2025 at 1:00 pm at Ophir Methodist Church, 2020 Ophir Rd., Troy, NC 27371 with Rev. Bill Knapp officiating. Burial will follow the service in the church cemetery.
