Shirley Covington Blake, age 85, went to be with the Lord, June 6, 2026, surrounded by her family.

She was preceded in death by her husband of 64 years, Donald O. Blake; her parents Edward Judson Covington and Mozelle Warner Covington; her brothers, Alton Covington, Curtis Covington, and Oswald Covington; her sisters, Josephine Russell, Ardele Reynolds, and Virginia Burroughs.

She is survived by her children: Clad Blake (Kim), Annette Yarboro (Richard), Dwayne Blake (Sharon), Kenneth Blake (Lady), and her sister Vicki Ochytun. She treasured her nine grandchildren and sixteen great-grandchildren.

Shirley was a member of Love Joy Church. A devoted Christian, she lived a life of faith, kindness, and serving others. She was the epitome of the hands and feet of Jesus. Very often she would cook a pot of her famous Chicken Dumplings and bake cakes for family and friends. She was always willing to lend a helping hand to anyone. Shirley will be remembered for her faith, and devotion to God, her family, and her church family. Though she will be greatly missed, her family finds comfort in knowing she is with her Lord and Savior. We are sure she was met with "Well done, good and faithful servant"!

Services will be held at 2:00 pm Tuesday, June 9, 2026, at Love Joy Church Arbor, 1137 Substation Road, Troy, NC. Visitation will be prior to the service from 1:00-1:55 in the Arbor, with Rev. Casey Harris officiating. . Burial will follow at the church cemetery.
