Selena Darcel Taylor McDonald

Selena Darcel Taylor McDonald, age 74, of Asheboro passed away on November 1, 2026 at her home.

Mrs. McDonald was born in Fayette County, WV on August 2, 1952 to William and Patricia Dermont Taylor. Her family moved to North Carolina when Selena was 12 years old and she was a graduate of Asheboro High School. Selena was formerly employed with Black & Decker, Sapona, and Delk’s Florist, retiring as the office manager of a dental office. Selena was a devout Christian and was a member of Union Grove Christian Church where she served as Treasurer for many years. Selena never met a stranger and was an excellent cook, her specialties being homemade biscuits and chicken & dumplings. She was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, and great grandmother. Selena was the recipient of a double lung transplant at Duke University Medical Center in 2016.

In addition to her parents, Selena was preceded in death by her sons, Jon Langford and Brent McDonald and siblings, Parker Taylor and Carol Albright.

She is survived by her husband of 41 years, R.B. McDonald, Jr.; children, Jennifer Mabe (Bradley) of Asheboro, Brock McDonald (Lisa) of St. Cloud, FL, Melody Machado of Orlando, FL, and Kevin McDonald of Asheboro; grandchildren, Kailey, Brianna, Sadie, and Lydia Mabe, Zack, Beth, Courtney, and Emma McDonald, Joe, Matthew, and Noah Machado; 4 great grandchildren; and siblings, Lynn Etta Saunders (Andy), Dean Upchurch, and Susan Wenda (Edward).

The family will receive friends on Wednesday, November 4, 2026 from 6:00-8:00 pm at Pugh Funeral Home, 437 Sunset Avenue in Asheboro. Funeral services will be held on Thursday, November 5, 2026 at 2:00 pm at Union Grove Christian Church, 3985 Old NC Hwy 13 in Asheboro with Pastor Scott Kidd and Rev. Garry Reeder officiating. Interment will follow in the church cemetery.
