Sarah "Jo" McLeod Coats

Sarah "Jo" Coats, born August 18, 1930, passed away on August 12, 2021 at Randolph Hospice House in Asheboro. She was preceded in death by her father, mother, and 8 siblings. Ms. Coats was born in Willow Spring, NC to Daniel Alexander and Elizabeth Driver McLeod. She retired from a job she loved at Jockey International. She was a loyal member of Asheboro Pentecostal Holiness Church and loved to share the word of God with everyone around her. Jo, better known as "Granny Jo" left behind 6 children, Devon Jarrell (Jerry), Patti Pugh (Terry), Carol Williams (Howard), Joey Coats (Kim), Danny Coats (Sharon), and Freddy Coats; 17 grandchildren, 30 great grandchildren; and 5 great-great grandchildren. The family will receive friends on Sunday, August 15, 2021 from 12 noon-1:45 pm at Pugh Funeral Home, 437 Sunset Avenue in Asheboro. Funeral services will follow on Sunday at 2:00 pm in the Pugh Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Rick Wilkie and Rev. Tommy Fuquay officiating. Burial will be held in Oaklawn Cemetery.
