Ruby Ann Maness, age 93, of Asheboro died Thursday, February 25, 2021 at Clapp's Convalescent Nursing Home, Asheboro.
Ruby Maness was born March 13, 1927, the daughter of Rev. Eli Carson and Annie L. Covington Maness.
Ruby was a native of Bailey, NC and a graduate of Greensboro Women's College, Class of 1948 with a degree in X-Ray Technology. She practiced at a hospital in Gastonia and then worked for Gaston County Social Services where she became the Supervisor of Food and Nutrition. She established the first food stamp program in Gaston County, and later retired from that position. She was a longtime member of Myers Memorial United Methodist Church, Gastonia before moving to Asheboro in 2007 to be closer to family. She then joined First United Methodist Church, Asheboro. In addition to her parents, Ruby is preceded in death by: siblings: Lewis Maness, Margaret Husel, E. C. Maness, Jr., Albert Maness and Ivey Maness.
She is survived by a host of nieces and nephews, great nieces and nephews, and great great nieces and nephews. Ruby will be missed by all who knew her.
The Memorial Service for Ruby will be private but will be streamed live on the Pugh Funeral Home Facebook page at 2:00 pm, Sunday, February 28, 2021.
