Robert Drake Watson

Robert "Bob" Drake Watson, age 83, of Asheboro passed away on Saturday, October 19, 2019 at Moses H. Cone Memorial Hospital.

Mr. Watson was born October 16, 1936 in Lumber Bridge, NC to Celeste Russ and Hurley C. Watson, Sr.

He was a graduate of Asheboro High School and Mars Hill College. Mr. Watson was a member of the Army National Guard. Bob was retired from Acme-McCrary Corporation and was a member of Franklinville United Methodist Church. In addition to his parents, Mr. Watson was preceded in death by his wife, Rebecca Jones Watson.

He is survived by his daughter, Kim Matthews and husband Kip of Athens, GA; son, Craig Watson and wife Kristi of Oak Ridge; grandchildren, Patrick Matthews, Schuyler Matthews, and Lucas Watson; sister, Lib Miller of Asheboro and numerous nieces and nephews.

The family will receive friends on Tuesday, October 22, 2019 from 6-8 PM at Pugh Funeral Home, 437 Sunset Avenue in Asheboro. Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, October 23, 2019 at 1:00 PM at Franklinville United Methodist Church, 227 W. Main Street in Franklinville with Pastor Chris West officiating. Burial will follow in Randolph Memorial Park.
