Richard Lloyd Dalton, Sr., age 87, of Asheboro, North Carolina, passed away on June 23, 2026, at Randolph Health.
Richard was born on July 12, 1938, in Stuart, Virginia, to the late Charles Dalton and Martha Ann Daniel.
Richard was a hardworking man who spent 31 years as a truck driver with Suwak Trucking Company. He was also a successful businessman, owning and operating Dalton's Car Corral for 25 years. Through his work and dedication, he provided for those he loved and built a life centered around family.
He was devoted to his wife, Brenda, and spent 32 years loving and caring for her. Richard always made sure she had everything she needed and took great pride in looking after her. Their love story began when he met Brenda while she was living across from the car dealership he owned.
Richard enjoyed many hobbies throughout his life. He was an avid NASCAR fan and also enjoyed football and boxing. He loved spending time with his family, attending car shows, and showing off his prized automobiles, earning several awards along the way. He especially enjoyed homemade biscuits and gravy prepared by his wife and cherished the companionship of his beloved dog, Harley.
In addition to his parents, Richard was preceded in death by his son, Richard Dalton, Jr.; his sister, Barbara Jean McNeill; his brothers, Billy Dalton and Jimmy Dalton; and his stepfather, Morgan Daniel.
He is survived by his loving wife, Brenda Dalton; his daughters, Debbie Crossney and Gina Dalton; his stepsons, Travis Laughlin (Ruby) and Stephen Furr (Sabrina); his stepdaughter, Jennifer Furr; grandchildren, Angel McDowell (Tommy), Ricky Dalton, Sarah Peak (Adam), Jesse Dalton (Lotus), Joshua Crossney, Christian Crossney, Jack Armstrong, Jordan Dalton, Hana Perez (Alex), Heaven Furr, Michael Furr, Helena Furr, Travis Laughlin, Jr., Brandon Laughlin, and Sabbath Laughlin; as well as numerous great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren.
A memorial service will be held on Friday, July 3, 2026, at 2:00pm at Faith Temple Baptist Church with pastor Zack Rich officiating. Additional service details will be announced
