Rev. Avon Kent Craven

Rev. Avon Kent Craven, age 82, of Browns Summit, NC, died April 10,2023 at his home.

Rev. Craven was born February 2, 1941 to Roland and Elizabeth Craven. He served in the National Guard for 2 years and was a Pastor for 45 years with the Church of God and served on various boards. Rev. Craven never met a stranger. He shared his love for God with everyone he met. Rev. Craven loved gospel music and had many published songs in the Church of God annual convention book.

In addition to his parents, Rev. Craven was preceded in death by his brother, Wilton Craven and sister, Oteia Hill.

Rev. Craven is survived by his wife of over 58 years, Donna Burress Craven; daughter, Renee Carver (Rocky); granddaughter, Cindy Lovelace (Bradley); grandson, Chad Sizemore; adopted granddaughter, Amber Gamero and her son Mason; special nieces, Cheryl, Robin, Kay; special nephew Alex.

The family will receive friends Saturday, April 15, 2023 from 12:30-1:45 pm at Pugh Funeral Home, 437 Sunset Ave., Asheboro. Funeral services will follow at 2:00 pm in the Pugh Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Steve Adams, Rev. Bill Coble and Rev. Gloria Ross officiating. Burial will be in New Hope Memorial Gardens.

The family of Rev. Craven would like to thank all of the professional staff at Amedisys Hospice of Burlington, NC. They provided personal and loving care for our loved one.
