Rebecca Beard Chapman, age 99, died Thursday, March 10, 2022, at Graybrier Nursing Center in Trinity, NC.

Rebecca was born in Athertonville, KY on January 6, 1923, to Wallace and Siotha Crady Beard. 

Rebecca was a loving mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother.  She was intelligent, interesting, kind, gentle and independent and she loved a good debate, being able to expound on nearly any subject.  She was married to Rev. Marvin Chapman, who preceded her in death. 

She had worked in many jobs over the years, school secretary at Teachey Elementary, for the Board of Education of Brunswick County in Food Service and as receptionist/secretary for the law firm of Wyatt, Early, Harris and Wheeler in High Point.  She enjoyed the beach, Lake Norman and going to the Nautilus Gym in Asheboro.  She was an active member of First Baptist Church, Asheboro and was a friend to many.  She will be greatly missed by all who knew her.  In addition to her parents and husband, she is preceded in death by her brother: John Beard. 

She is survived by her son: Marvin Chapman and his wife Betsy of Sherrills Ford, NC; son: Charlie Chapman and his wife Dedie of Asheboro, NC; daughter: Stephanie Johnson and her husband Roy of Asheboro, NC;  grandchildren: Sandie Chapman, Paul Sanders and wife Susan, Chris Chapman and wife Melanie, Elizabeth Beckwith and husband Brian; great-grandchildren: Hunter Epps, Haley Epps, Erin Currigan, Caitlyn Currigan, Brayden Chapman, Trip Wilson, Rebecca Wilson, Carter Beckwith, Christian Beckwith, Courtney Odell, Tyler Sanders, and Anna Sanders.

The family will receive friends on Sunday, March 13, 2022, from 2:00-2:45 PM at First Baptist Church, Asheboro, 133 N. Church Street, Asheboro, NC.  The funeral will follow at 3:00 PM at the church.  Burial will be private.  At other times, the family will receive friends at the home of Charlie and Dedie 1645 Plantation Circle Asheboro, NC or at the home of Stephanie and Roy 305 Tremont Drive Asheboro, NC.
