Ralph Curtis Wood

Ralph Curtis Wood, 96, of Randleman passed away peacefully surrounded by his loved ones on Tuesday, July 1, 2025 in Asheboro, NC. He was born October 30, 1928 in Randolph County to Solon Tobias Wood and Grace Hinshaw Wood.

Ralph will be remembered as a loving, caring, and compassionate family man. His love for family was overwhelming as was his love of community and he saw the best in everyone. Ralph worked for Sew Special, but thought his most important job was working for Level Cross Elementary - he loved the children and being a part of their lives. Ralph was a lover of baseball with a special affection for the Atlanta Braves, especially fond of Freddie Freeman. He will be loved and missed by all who knew him.

Ralph is survived by his loving wife of 74 years, Audrey Wood of the home; daughters, Wanda W. Spencer (Sonny) of Mt. Gilead, Pattie Challice (Steve) of Randleman; grandson, Brian Spencer (Ann); three great-grandchildren, Solon, Asa, Cole.

The family would like to extend a special thank you to the doctors, nurses, and staff at Randolph Health for the love and care they provided for Ralph and the family.

The family will receive friends Monday, July 7, 2025, from 10:00 – 10:50 AM at Pugh Funeral Home in Randleman. Funeral service will begin at 11:00 AM in the Eddie Pugh Memorial Chapel with Reverend Johnny Lord and Reverend Steven Bergkamp officiating. Private family burial to follow.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made in Ralph’s name to New Salem United Methodist Church, 623 New Salem Rd., Randleman, NC 27317.
