Ralph James “Jimmy” Kern, age 82, of Siler City passed away on January 21, 2026 at UNC Health Chatham.
Mr. Kern was born in Pomeroy, OH on January 24, 1942 to Ralph and Violet White Kern. Jimmy owned his own cash register business for many years, then pursued the career that suited him best, which was sales. In the latter part of his career, he sold insurance and securities.
Jimmy loved God, his families, fishing, and scalding hot coffee. He was a good, generous man who loved helping anyone in need. Jimmy always had Werther’s candies, that he shared with everyone, in his pocket.
In addition to his parents, Jimmy was preceded in death by his first wife, Joyce Kern and second wife, Arlene Kern.
He is survived by his buddy, his daughter, Melinda Beers of Asheboro; grandsons, Karl Schneider (Amber) of Siler City, James Beers of Sanford; and Joshua Beers of Hedgesville; great grandchildren, Hailee, Karl, and Faye; and brothers, Tom Kern and Dave Kern.
