Rachel Dennis Wilhoit

Rachel Irene Dennis Wilhoit, 99, of Troy passed away on July 5, 2023, at Trinity Place in Albemarle.

Rachel was born on February 12, 1924, in Montgomery County to Floyd and Sarah Clark Dennis. 

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband Carlie Benjamin Wilhoit, sons Carlie Wayne Wilhoit and Edwin Jerome Wilhoit, sisters Doris Shue, Leona Hardister and Jewel Smith and brother Claude Dennis.

She is survived by her daughter in law Brenda Wilhoit of Troy, granddaughter Patricia Hancock (Jeff) of Mt. Gilead, sister Betty Sue Smith of Mt. Gilead, great grandsons Jeffery Hancock of Cary and Benjamin Hancock of Waynesville and many nieces and nephews.

A funeral service will be held on Sunday, July 9, 2023, at White Crest Baptist Church at 3:00 pm with Rev Dave Wensil officiating.  The family will receive friends prior to the service from 2:00-2:45 pm.  Burial will follow in the church cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, memorials can be made in Rachel’s honor to Stanly County Hospice 960 North First Street, Albemarle, NC 28001.
