Philip Earl Newsome

Phillip "Earl" Newsome, 70, passed away peacefully at his home on September 20, 2026.

Earl was born on November 11, 1955, in Gaston, North Carolina, to the late Linus and Edna Newsome. He spent his working years as a truck driver and retired from Box Board Products in Greensboro after a lifetime of hard work and dedication.

In addition to his parents, Earl was preceded in death by his daughter, Megan Newsome, and his brother, Alvin Newsome. Earl is survived by his son, Colby Newsome and wife, Tina, of Forest Oaks; his daughter, Whitney Newsome of Greensboro; his grandson, Jesse James Hawley; his granddaughter, Maci Newsome; four brothers; and one sister.

Earl will be remembered by those who knew and loved him, and his memory will live on through his family and friends.

A memorial service honoring Earl's life will be held at a later date.
