Pedro Ortiz-Perez, 16, of Asheboro passed away on May 14, 2024 at UNC Hospitals in Chapel Hill.

Pedro was born in Chapel Hill on March 9, 2008, the son of Pedro Ortiz Filomeno and Maria Guadalupe Perez Pacheco. Pedro was of the Catholic faith and was preceded in death by his paternal grandparents, Armando Ortiz Solorzono and Lucia Filomeno Antonio.

Pedro was a student at Southwestern Randolph High School, where he was a midfielder on the soccer team. Pedro’s biggest passion was soccer, but he also loved dancing, hanging out with friends, and going out to eat. Pedro loved his family and was very active in the community with his soccer accolades.

In addition to his parents, Pedro is survived by his brother, Deigo Ortiz-Perea; maternal grandparents, Maria Elana Perez and Antonio Carrillo Munoz of Virginia; and several nieces and nephews.

A funeral mass will be held on Saturday, May 25, 2024 at 10:00 am at St. Joseph’s Catholic Church, 512 W. Wainman Avenue in Asheboro with Father Philip Kollithanath officiating.  The family will receive friends on Saturday from 11:30 am-2:00 pm at Pugh Funeral Home, 437 Sunset Avenue in Asheboro.  Interment will be held on Sunday, May 26, 2024 at 2:30 pm at New Hope Memorial Gardens.

Pedro Ortiz-Pérez, de 16 años, de Asheboro, falleció el 14 de mayo de 2024 en UNC Hospitals en Chapel Hill.

Pedro nació en Chapel Hill el 9 de marzo de 2008, hijo de Pedro Ortiz Filomeno y María Guadalupe Pérez Pacheco. Pedro era de fe católica y fue precedido en la muerte por sus abuelos paternos, Armando Ortiz Solórzono y Lucía Filomeno Antonio.

Pedro era estudiante en Southwestern Randolph High School, donde era mediocampista en el equipo de fútbol. La mayor pasión de Pedro era el fútbol, pero también le encantaba bailar, salir con amigos y salir a comer. Pedro amaba a su familia y era muy activo en la comunidad con sus elogios futbolísticos.

Además de sus padres, a Pedro le sobreviven su hermano, Deigo Ortiz-Perea; abuelos maternos, María Elana Pérez y Antonio Carrillo Muñoz de Virginia; y varios sobrinos y sobrinas.

Se llevará a cabo una misa fúnebre el sábado 25 de mayo de 2024 a las 10:00 am en la Iglesia Católica de San José, 512 W. Wainman Avenue en Asheboro con el Padre Philip Kollithanath oficiando.  La familia recibirá a sus amigos el sábado de 11:30 a.m. a 2:00 p.m. en la Funeraria Pugh, 437 Sunset Avenue en Asheboro.  El entierro se llevará a cabo el domingo 26 de mayo de 2024 a las 2:30 pm en New Hope Memorial Gardens.
