Nellie "Meemaw" Toomes

Nellie “Meemaw” Rayle Toomes, 96, of Randleman went home to be with Jesus on Monday, August 10, 2026 surrounded by her loved ones. She was born November 27, 1929 in Guilford County, NC to Alonzo Rayle and Phoebe Farrington Rayle.

Nellie is survived by her son, Terry Toomes (Rhonda) of Randleman and daughter, Joni Knight (Jay) of Randleman; 6 granddaughters; and 12 great-grandchildren. Nellie is preceded in death by her loving husband, Blease Toomes and son, Frank Toomes.

The family will receive friends on Sunday, August 16, 2026, from 2:00 PM – 2:55 PM at Level Cross Baptist Church, 10167 US-220 BUS in Randleman. Funeral service will start at 3:00 PM with Reverend Jerry Mills officiating. Burial will follow at Level Cross Baptist Church Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, the family asks for donations in Nellie’s name be made to Level Cross Christian School, 10167 US-220 BUS, Randleman, NC 27317.
