Nancy Trogdon Reynolds, 85, native of Troy, who recently lived in Charlotte and Gastonia, passed away from Alzheimer’s at the Gordon Hospice House in Statesville, NC, on February 5, 2026.
She was born June 28, 1940, in Star, NC, and grew up in Troy, NC. She felt blessed to have grown up in a small town during the 40’s and 50’s, when life was very different during the Greatest Generation. Everyone worked hard and looked after each other. Children played without fear, patriotism was popular and all were proud to be Americans. She was preceded in death by her parents, Hubert and Mary Trogdon. Her father was a gentle man who instilled in her the love of music and nature. Her mother was an independent woman who taught her needlework and the interest in crafts of all kinds.
Upon high school graduation she completed nursing training at Presbyterian Hospital School of Nursing in Charlotte, NC.
Over her working years she had many mentors and heroes including Dr. Charles Highsmith and Peggy Haywood, RN, of Troy, Dr. Fred Mitchell, Dr. Cliff Calloway, Dr. Yvette Rudisel, Beth Jenkins, RN, of Charlotte and Margaret Martin, RN, of Lake Wylie, SC.
Nancy is survived by her two proudest accomplishments, her sons Chris of Nashville, TN, and Eric (Stacey) of Statesville, NC. They became outstanding men who contributed to and continue to support their communities in their own special ways. She was just as proud of three grandchildren, Luke, Joelle, and Kate. Also surviving Nancy are her brothers Lee (Blanche) and David (Bookie) who were very supportive in many ways over the years. Other close family members are Bob and Renee Selby, both of Florida, who grew up in the family home and Sylvia Trogdon, a very special niece.
Nancy lived in Charlotte for thirty-four years, but her last years were spent with close friend, Jean Pittman, at Jean’s house in Gastonia. She was grateful for that opportunity which made her retirement more meaningful and enjoyable.
Nancy requested that in lieu of flowers, memorials be made to any charity of your choice.
Nancy’s Celebration of Life Ceremony will be held on Monday, March 2, at the Pugh-Troy Funeral Home, 211 N. Main St. in Troy, with visitation beginning at noon, followed by the service at 1 pm.
On-line condolences may be made at www.pughfuneralhome.com.
Pugh Troy Funeral Home is honored to serve the family of Nancy Reynolds.
