Nancy Harris Essick, age 80, passed away on April 3, 2026, at Peak Resources in Gastonia.

Nancy was born on August 17, 1945, in Johnson City, New York, to the late John Harris Jr. and Ann Juel Snyder.

Nancy had a deep love for the outdoors and found great joy in spending time in nature. She especially loved her horses and often participated in wagon trains. She took pride in caring for her yard, whether tending to her garden or mowing her grass. Nancy was a devoted wife and mother who cherished her family dearly. She also enjoyed attending NASCAR races and could often be found relaxing with a glass of wine, enjoying life’s simple pleasures.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Boyd Russell Essick; her brother, Richard Harris; and her step-son, Brent Russell (Russ) Essick.

Nancy is survived by her son, William Michael Essick (Cathy); her step-daughter, Tammy Michael (Gary); her sisters, Beth Bigford (Mark), Lynn Slota (John), Laurie Teed (Bruce), and Mary Harris; her brother, Michael Harris (Claire); her grandsons, Bradley Essick (Whitney), Brandon Essick (Brittany), Brody Essick (Molly), and Brent Bullin; as well as several great-grandchildren.

A visitation will be held on Wednesday, April 8, 2026, from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. at Pugh Funeral Home in Randleman.
