Myrtle Wansley

Myrtle Jeffcoat Wansley, age 84 of Asheboro passed away on Thursday, June 8, 2023, at the Randolph Hospice House.

Myrtle was born in Effingham, South Carolina on September 19, 1938, to Ira and Myrtle Sims Jeffcoat. She graduated from Dreher High School and received an Associates Degree in Business Administration from Columbia Female College (now Columbia College) in Columbia, SC.  Myrtle worked in county government and later in the family-owned business until her retirement. In addition to her parents, Myrtle was preceded in death by her loving husband Gaines, Son Gaines L. Wansley, and her grandson Joshua.

Myrtle was a very disciplined and organized person who was always involved in her family’s lives. She was set in her ways but was a very loving mother and grandmother. She was devoted to her husband Gaines and loved traveling and boating with him. Myrtle adored working crossword puzzles. She loved roses and geraniums.

She is survived by her son: Jimmy (Deborah) of Asheboro, NC, Daughter Jenny Champion of Charlotte, NC. Eight grandchildren and 16 great grandchildren.

The family will receive friends on Wednesday, June 14, 2023, from 6-8 pm at Pugh Funeral Home. A service of remembrance will be held on Thursday June 15, 2023, at 3:00 pm at Woodridge Memorial Park in Lexington, South Carolina and Internment will follow the service with the Rev. Bo Wansley presiding.
