Molly Ann Frye Farlow (92) passed away on November 9, 2020 at Woodland Hills Assisted Living Facility. She is survived by her husband of 72 years, Michael E. Farlow of Asheboro, daughters Martha Lewis and Dale Flinchum of Asheboro, son Jonathan Farlow of Archdale, 6 grandchildren and five great-grandchildren. She is preceded in death by her parents, William and Nora Frye of High Point, three brothers, one sister, and one grandchild.
"Granny Molly" was born on May 15, 1928 in High Point, NC. Her parents were told by attending physicians that she wouldn't live but for a couple of days due to a birth defect. Twenty years later she met Michael Farlow. They were married on July 31, 1948 and she was told by attending physicians that she couldn't have children. In her lifetime she gave the world 3 children, 7 grandchildren and 5 great-grandchildren. She was also close to her sons-in-law, Charlie Lewis and Randy Flinchum of Asheboro and daughter-in-law, Kathy Farlow of Archdale.
She was at one time a member of the Sweet Adelines barbershop group where she sang bass. She also sang tenor in the Marlboro Friends Meeting choir for decades. She was a skilled craftsman and was known to crochet, weave baskets, do macrame, and her stained-glass creations have been used as gifts for many thankful recipients. Despite always having a full calendar, her first passion was family, and she was a veteran of sporting events, school plays, concerts, camping trips, and family get togethers. Although she had been in failing health, she added to her list of medical miracles by beating Covid-19 this past October.
Molly's body will lie in repose on Friday, November 13, 2020 from 1:00-4:00 pm at Pugh Funeral Home, 437 Sunset Avenue in Asheboro.
Funeral services will be held at Marlboro Friends Meeting in Sophia, North Carolina on Saturday, November 14, 2020 with a private service at 10:15 am in the Family life center followed by a graveside service at 11:00 in the church cemetery for all who wish to pay their respects to the family. Social distancing and/or masks is requested.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Marlboro Friends Meeting, 2668 Marlboro Church Road, Sophia, NC 27350.
