Mary Anne Hooper Moore, age 92, died on November 8, 2020, at Hospice House in Asheboro. She was born July 18, 1928, in Lexington, NC, but lived most of her life in Asheboro, NC. She graduated from Asheboro High School, Class of 1945, where she played basketball and tennis. Following high school, she graduated in 1949 from Woman's College, fondly called "WC" and now The University of North Carolina at Greensboro, with a Bachelor of Science in Secretarial Administration. After a short time of teaching in Durham and Seagrove, NC, she came to Asheboro High School where she taught for 30 years. Anne loved teaching and sports. She was either making sure football programs were printed and distributed or driving a car full of cheerleaders to away games. Anne loved life and found joy in every day she lived. She loved to find antiques to decorate her home. She loved watching football and tennis. She enjoyed time with friends and family. She loved her little dogs and growing plants and flowers. She was an avid reader and knitter. Close friends could always look forward to a gift of her amazing fudge at Christmas. Her world revolved around her daughters, Beverly and MiMi, and her granddaughter, Leslie. She will likely be remembered most for her kindness and how it touched anyone blessed to know her. She is survived by her daughter, Beverly Moore Harris of Greenville, NC, MiMi Moore Cooper and husband, Chris, of Franklinville, NC, granddaughter, Leslie Rebecca Cooper of Durham, NC, and niece, Celia Routh Hooper and husband, Craig Smith, of Ocean Isle Beach, NC. She was preceded in death by her father, Judson Paul Hooper, her mother, Mary Geneva Monroe Hooper, her brother, Edwin Willys Hooper, and her niece, Diana Ellen Hooper Dalton. No service is planned at this time due to protection of all from COVID-19. A celebration of her life will take place at a later time. The family requests that memorial contributions be made to Hospice of Randolph, 416 Vision Dr., Asheboro, NC 27203, www.hospiceofrandolph.org or New Leash on Life, Attn: Ashley Morris, 1370 County Land Road, Randleman, NC 27317. Pugh Funeral Home in Asheboro is serving the Moore family.
