Obituary

Marie Brinson Bulla passed away peacefully at the age of 91 in her home on May 21, 2026. Born in Chinquapin, North Carolina, she was the youngest daughter of the late Stephen and Hettie Brinson. While attending East Carolina University, she met the love of her life, Alfred "Brad" Bulla, Jr. The two married and embarked on dedicated careers in education, eventually settling in Virginia Beach, Virginia.

Marie taught at Bayside High School before earning her elementary education endorsement. She then taught second and third grades at several public schools in Virginia Beach, retiring from Birdneck Elementary School. Marie worked tirelessly to ensure every child in her care received the best education she could provide. Her family and faith were central to her life. As an active member of Scott Memorial United Methodist Church, Marie attended the Sunday school class Brad taught, served in the nursery, and taught children's Sunday school.

Marie leaves behind her husband; her two children, Lynn Jordan (Bill) and Brent Bulla (Kyoko); and her four grandchildren, Rachel Gardner (Sean), William Jordan, Hannah Bulla, and Mae Bulla.
