Maria was born in Havre de Grace, Maryland in 1961. As a military child, she spent her early childhood in Germany, France, and Augusta, Georgia. Her family eventually settled in Farmer where she attended Farmer School and was a 1979 graduate of Southwestern Randolph High School. She also attended Pfeiffer University where she graduated with a degree in accounting.
Maria was a former employee of Stedman's Manufacturing, The Courier Tribune office manager for 3 decades, and owner of Merle Norman Cosmetics. She was most recently the owner of StepNout formals in Asheboro.
Maria played a large role in the community. She was a member of the Beta Sigma Phi Sorority in Asheboro, was a small business owner, and was active in the functions of the Asheboro and Randleman Chamber of Commerce. She was a large part of the Farmer community and was known by everyone.
Maria was loved by anyone who ever met her and had an incredible personality with a huge heart. She lived for the beach and sitting on her back porch watching the farmer sunsets. She was an amazing wife, mom, gigi, sister, and friend. She was a wise woman who never failed to offer advice to anyone who asked for guidance.
