Manucher "Manu" Arasta, age 83 on the Fourth of July, died Wednesday July 3, 2019 peacefully in his home in Asheboro, NC. He succumbed to Alzheimer's disease after a valiant and courageous journey of 8 years. Manu was born in Kermanshah, Iran and became a naturalized citizen of the United States. Along with his parents, Dr. Abdol -Ali Arasta and Moneer-AI-Saltaneh Arasta, Manu was predeceased by two brothers, Houshang Arasta and Parviz Arasta, one sister, Soraya Dowlatshahi and his beloved daughter, Afsaneh "Afsi" Arasta (of Shanaz Moore) also known as "Hannah" to her classmates. Manu was employed for several years by Iran-Air as their catering and cabin-service planning manager. On coming to America he received his Bachelor of Science degree in Business Administration from Campbell College in Buies Creek NC. He became a partner/manager of Samuel's Cafeteria in Asheboro as well as a Health Inspector for Randolph County and also substitute taught in the Asheboro City schools. A kind and gentle soul beyond compare, Manu is survived by his loving wife, Joan Blake Arasta, his beloved son, Ali John Arasta (of Patsy Jo Vuncannon) and Ali's wife, Jan, his nieces Sousan Dowlatshahi and Dr. Maryam Dowlatshahi de Beauchesne both of Paris, France, Dr. Mercedes Arasta of the UK, his nephew, Amir Arasta of Washington DC and his cousin Fereshteh "Feri" Jestice of Las Vegas, Nevada. His memory will remain forever in the hearts of all who knew him. Family has chosen to have a quiet cremation to honor his wishes. In lieu of flowers please consider a memorial to the Alzheimer's Association, to RH Staywell Senior Care or to Hospice of Randolph County.
