Malcolm Mize, age 86, of Asheboro passed away on Thursday, September 8, 2016 at the Randolph Hospice House.
Malcolm was born on July 27, 1930 in Lexington, NC to Betty and Joe Mize. He was a member of First E&R United Church of Christ and served as a deacon and elder for many years. He served in the United States Navy in communications. He retired from Eveready/Energizer from the engineering department. He was also a proud business owner of Shear Artistry Salon. His hobbies were camping, traveling, and spending time at the beach with his family. He was a graduate of Randolph Community College and Guilford Community College. In addition to his parents, Malcolm was preceded in death by his brother Joe Mize, Jr.
He is survived by his wife of 66 years, Jackie Mize; son, Michael Mize and wife Melanie; daughter, Teresa Carter and husband Billy all of Asheboro; grandchildren Krista Frazier and husband Morgan, Leslie Kidd and husband Travis, Brittney Mize, Courtney Pineda and husband Jose, and Kamryn Carter; great grandchildren, Price, Olivia, Riley, Anson, Mason, Carter, Ty, and Kaesen; sister, Betty Jean Hoover of Winston-Salem.
The family will receive friends on Saturday, September 10, 2016 from 6:00-8:00 p.m. at Pugh Funeral Home, 437 Sunset Avenue, Asheboro. Funeral services will be held on Sunday, September 11, 2016 at 2:30 pm at First E & R United Church of Christ, 221 Cliff Road, Asheboro with Rev. Dale Kennedy officiating. Burial will follow in Randolph Memorial Park with military honors by the Randolph County Honor Guard.
