Lucille Shaw Richardson

d. February 6, 2021

Lucille Shaw Richardson, age 95, of Asheboro passed away on Saturday, February 6, 2021 at Green Valley Hospital in Greensboro. Lucille was born May 15, 1925 to parents James Albert and Effie Mae Harvell Shaw. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband of 67 years, Ervin Richardson, her brothers, Lloyd, Colon, and Ralph Shaw, sisters, Grace Hurley, Irene Hammer, Virginia Humble, and Dorothy Nance. Lucille was a member of Foster Street Wesleyan Church where she was in charge of the nursery for many years. She was the owner and operator of her shop where she sold T-shirts, sweaters, and little girls pageant dresses and accessories. She also ran an antique shop with her husband Ervin for many years. Lucille loved to read books and write poems and stories about her life and adventures. She loved to watch the Food Network and she was an excellent cook, even cooking up rattlesnake. She loved to have her hands in the dirt to work with her flowers and she always had beautiful ones. Her favorite flower was at Christmas time and the big beautiful red poinsettia. Lucille also loved cookies. She baked and decorated Christmas cookies every year for her family who loved them so much until her health declined, but that did not stop her, although in a wheelchair. She had her daughter to keep her four cookie jars filled with different kinds of cookies for all the young and old to enjoy when they stopped by for a visit. She ate two cookies after each meal to finish them off proper. With a real zest for life, Lucille was a beautiful, kind, loving, and compassionate Christian woman with a quick wit and amazing sense of humor, who devoted herself to her family and friends whom she loved greatly. She was deeply loved and held in high esteem by all that knew her. Her vivacious personality and the way in which she always loved to make people around her laugh, will never be forgotten. Even though it is hard to let her go, we take comfort in knowing that she is home and together again with the love of her life Ervin and we know that he gave her a big hug and kiss to welcome her there. She is survived by her children, Gary (Janet) Richardson, Teresa (Ronnie) Tatum, Tim (Lora) Richardson all of Asheboro; 5 grandchildren; 8 great grandchildren; and 5 great great grandchildren. Lucille's body will lie in repose on Monday, February 15, 2021 from 11:00 am-2:00 pm at Pugh Funeral Home in Asheboro. A service will follow immediately in the chapel with Junior Baker officiating.
