Louis Ray Ragsdale, age 71, of Troy passed away on August 15, 2023 at FirstHealth Moore Regional Medical Center.
Mr. Ragsdale was born in Montgomery County on December 2, 1951 to Ernest and Louise Horner Ragsdale and grew up in Robbins. He was a 1969 graduate of North Moore High School. He retired from Energizer Battery after 43 years of service, taught pottery at Randolph Community College, and was the owner of Ragsdale Pottery in Moore County. Louis was of the Baptist faith and was a good man who never said a bad thing about anyone. Louis enjoyed woodworking, hunting, fishing, playing with tractors, and spending time with his dogs. In addition to his parents, Louis was preceded in death by his wife, Elaine Ragsdale, and his sister, Linda Hogan.
He is survived by his son, Danial Ragsdale (Tami) of Richmond, VA and Robbie McDuffie (Anita) of Troy; daughters, Vicky Elaine McNeill (Doug) of Pisgah and Carolyn McDuffie of Asheboro; grandchildren, Jason McNeill (Kim), Justin McNeill, Jamie Garner (Adam), Michael Mannes, Kelli Mannes, Brandy Chrismon, and Richard Hucks; great grandchildren, Mason Garner, Presley Bledsoe, Caroline Faircloth (Nick), Preston McNeill, Lance McNeill, Cameron Chrismon, Braydon Chrismon, and Aliya Cook; great-great grandchildren, Reese Faircloth and Millie Faircloth; sister, Denise Duncan; and several nieces and nephews.
The family will receive friends on Friday, August 18, 2023 from 6:00-8:00 pm at Pugh Funeral Home, 437 Sunset Avenue in Asheboro. A memorial service will be held on Saturday, August 19, 2023 at 11:00 am at the Pugh Funeral Home Chapel with Kelly McNeill officiating. Burial will follow at Oaklawn Cemetery.
