Leonard Leo Saunders

Leonard Leo Saunders, age 95, of Wilmington, formerly of Troy, passed away at his home on Thursday, May 13, 2021. Mr. Saunders was born in Montgomery County, NC on October 15, 1925, the son of the late Aaron Leo Saunders and the late Belle Lamonds Saunders. Leonard was a Veteran of the Navy. He was a well-known Barber at Troy Barbershop for many years. He was a loving husband, father, grandfather, and great grandfather. Leonard was a very kind man, always smiling and loved by all that knew him. He had a love for animals and enjoyed jogging, fishing, and hunting. He was a member of Macedonia Church in Troy. He is survived by one daughter: Kathy Spivey and one son: Perry Saunders; granddaughters: Felicia Spivey and Donna Spivey; grandsons: Jeff Saunders and Josh Saunders; great grandchildren: Peyton, Archie, and Phoebe; and one sister: Dorothy Stevens. He was preceded in death by his wife, Catherine Saunders and numerous siblings. Visitation will be held on Saturday, May 22, 2021 from 12:00 pm to 1:00 pm, at Pugh Troy Funeral Home, 211 N. Main St., Troy, NC. A graveside service will follow at 1:30 pm at Biscoe Cemetery, Alt. Hwy. 220, Biscoe, NC, with the Rev. Dr. Bruce Lax officiating.
