Koren Craig "K.C." King, Jr., age 92, formerly of Asheboro passed away on Sunday, January 31, 2021 at his home in Greensboro.
Mr. King was born in Asheboro on January 16, 1929 to Koren Craig and Pearl Ray Spencer King. K.C. served his country in the U.S. Coast Guard. He was retired from Harris-Teeter after 37 years of service. K.C. was a lifetime member of Asheboro Masonic Lodge 699 and the Asheboro Elks Lodge. In addition to his parents, K.C. was preceded in death by his wife of 35 years, Betty Sue Lewallen King, and siblings, Duane, Harlow, and Terry King, and Delores Goins.
He is survived by his daughter, Karen King of Ormond Beach, FL; sons, Mark L. King (Sue) of Ocean Isle Beach and Craig King (Maria) of Greensboro; stepsons, Norvin W. Roessing, Jr. (Amy) of Asheboro and Robert M. "Bob" Roessing (Debbie) of Asheboro; 8 grandchildren; and several great grandchildren.
Mr. King's body will lie in repose on Thursday, February 4, 2021 from 11:00 am-1:30 pm at Pugh Funeral Home, 437 Sunset Avenue in Asheboro. A graveside service with military honors by the Randolph County Honor Guard will follow on Thursday at 2:00 pm at Asheboro City Cemetery, 160 West Salisbury Street in Asheboro with Rev. Lynda Ferguson officiating.
