Joy Lane Sawyer, age 82, of Asheboro died Saturday, September 3, 2016 at Randolph Hospice House, Asheboro.
A native of Sherman, Texas, Joy was the daughter of John Debs Lane and Jourline Cope Lane. She was a member of First Presbyterian Church, Asheboro and a member of the Westminster Sunday School Class. The owner/operator of The Craft Station in Asheboro, she taught art and craft classes for Randolph Community College. A gifted artist and gardener, (her yard was a beautiful mosaic), and her thirst for knowledge never waned, as she was an avid reader. Joy especially loved spending time with her family.
In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her brother, Johnny E. Lane her sister Betty J. Welch, her baby sister Gloria P. Lane, and her great grandson David Spisak, Jr.
She is survived by her daughters: Kathy Lyndon and her husband Randy of Asheboro, NC, Mary Anne Hyatt of Asheboro, Nancy Celli and her husband John of Wilmington, NC and Amy Hurley of Asheboro, NC; grandchildren: Gerry Floyd, Jr. of Wilmington, NC, Sarah Dunn of Elon, NC, Crystal (Brad) Tremaroli of Morristown, NJ, Adam (Tiffany) McIver of Clemmons, NC, Amber Spisak of Chesapeake, VA, Vance (Jackie) Lyndon, Jr. of Angier, NC, Robert (Amanda) Julian of Asheboro, NC and Brandon Hurley of Asheboro, NC; 10 great grandchildren, and sister: Shirley J. Leverett of Springtown Texas.
The memorial service will be Friday, September 9, 2016 at 12:00 noon at First Presbyterian Church, 420 West Walker Ave., Asheboro with Rev. Brian Gawf officiating. The family will receive friends following the memorial service in the Westminster Fellowship Hall.
