John Michael "Mike" Morris, age 62, of Jackson Springs, NC, passed away peacefully at FirstHealth Hospice House in Pinehurst, NC on Thursday, August 6, 2026, surrounded by his family.

Mike was born on March 19,1964 in Moore County, NC to the late Leonard Ray Morris and the late Orelia Robinson Morris. He was a graduate of West Montgomery High School and Wilkes Community College, where he received a degree in Diesel and Heavy Equipment Technology as well as numerous other accreditations. He was an ASE certified Automotive & Heavy Equipment Mechanic. He was retired from Sandhills Research Station where he worked as a mechanic with over 30 years of service. Mike was known for being able to work on and fix just about anything. He had so many friends and was loved by all that knew him. He loved his family and believed in hard work and helping others. He valued all his friendships. He was obsessed with collecting antique chainsaws, tractors and junk, and he shared that obsession with his son Michael. He enjoyed his time with his Breakfast Buddies meeting at Blake's Restaurant where they laughed and learned from each other.

Mike is survived by his wife: Melinda Hardee Morris; his son John Michael Morris Jr. (Becca Lynn); and his feline companion Lucy, along with many friends and family members. He was preceded in death by his parents.

Memorials may be made in Mike's honor to First Baptist Church of Troy, Fellowship Class, 401 E. Main Street, Troy, NC 27371.

A Memorial Service will be held on Sunday, August 9, 2026, at 3:00 PM at First Baptist Church, 401 E. Main St., Troy, NC, with Rev. Nick Allen and Rev. Quint Dunlap officiating. Visitation will be held prior to the service from 2:00 PM to 2:45 PM.
