John David Inman, age 95, of Randleman passed away peacefully on July 15, 2026 at the Randolph Hospice House.
Mr. Inman was born in Surry County on March 5, 1931 to John Ira and Hessie Bennett Inman. John served his country in the U.S. Army during the Korean Conflict. He was formerly employed with Founders Furniture, Thayer Coggins Furniture, and retired from Haworth Seating. In his spare time, John enjoyed working outdoors, taking care of his lawn and garden, and cutting wood to deliver to anyone who needed it.
John was a wonderful and giving gentleman. He loved his family dearly, always working 10-hour days, sometimes 6 days a week to provide for them. Even though John was not a fan of the beach, he would travel there every year just because his family enjoyed it. He enjoyed traveling to his hometown, Pilot Mountain, every chance he could. John loved showing his family the old homeplace and telling stories about his childhood.
In addition to his parents, John was preceded in death by his wife of 59 years, Grace Jones Inman, grandson, Tommy Inman, sisters, Lottie Stevenson, Doris Sheets, Ruth McElreath, and Betty Johnson, and his brother, Bobby Inman.
John is survived by his son, David Inman (Penny) of Liberty; daughters, Kathy Kidd (John) of Asheboro, Sandy Wood (Chester) of Randleman, and Luann Inman of Randleman; grandchildren, Gina Kidd Smith (Russell), Alex Inman (Victoria), Lauren Walls (Aaron Voncannon), Elizabeth Inman, Adam Wood (Cate Lindsay), Joshua Inman, and Zackary Inman; great grandchildren, Brett Smith, Tommy Delgado, Allie Walls, Gracie Inman, and Jeremy Voncannon; sister, Frances King of Archdale; several nieces and nephews; and his faithful canine companions, Tyrone and Shaggy.
The family will receive friends on Sunday, July 19, 2026 from 5:00-7:00 pm on at Pugh Funeral Home, 600 South Main Street in Randleman. Funeral services will be held on Monday, July 20, 2026 at 11:00 am at the Eddie Pugh Memorial Chapel with Jeff Nobles and Rev. Mark Wilburn officiating. Interment will follow at Randolph Memorial Park.
Memorials may be made to Hospice of Randolph, 416 Vision Drive, Asheboro, NC 27203 or St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105 or Duke Health, 300 West Morgan Street, Durham, NC 27701.
John’s family would like to express a very special thank you to the staff of Randolph Health and Randolph Hospice House for the compassionate and loving care given to him.
Last, but not least, an enormous amount of gratitude to his daughters and sons-in-law, Sandy and Chester and Kathy and John, who were his unwavering caregivers for the past 5 years. Their love and care will never be forgotten.
