JoAnn Cashatt Biggs

JoAnn Cashatt Biggs, age 77, of Julian passed away on December 15, 2025 at Moses Cone Hospital.

Mrs. Biggs was born in Charlotte on May 1, 1948 to Jim and Ann Revelle Cashatt. JoAnn received her bachelor’s degree and RN degree from UNC-Charlotte. She received her master’s degree in public health from UNC-Chapel Hill, while raising two children, and with one on the way. JoAnn graduated from law school at the age of 40. She was the personification of tenacity and perseverance. She was the former director of the AHEC with Cone Health. JoAnn was one of only two nurses/attorneys in North Carolina. She practiced law in Asheboro, NC focusing primarily on helping those with health care related issues. JoAnn was easy to love, very funny and warm, inviting, and accepting of others. She loved being a mother and grandmother and was a wonderful caretaker. JoAnn was a very talented artist, specializing in landscapes and flowers, and she loved to shop. JoAnn loved all animals, especially horses, dogs, cats, and goats.

She is survived by her husband of 43 years, Paul Biggs; sons, Tad Little (Rachel) and Jeffrey Little (Beth); daughter, April Marty (Brent); stepdaughter, Barbara Swails (Michael); grandchildren, Alex, Jake, Brody, Evan, Mia, Matthew, Katie (Brandon), and Mark; 1 step great grandchild; her sister, Becky Champion; her brother, John Cashatt; and her beloved poodle, Bella.

A memorial service will be planned after the holidays.
