Joan Carolyn Routh Lynch

Joan Carolyn Routh Lynch age 79 of Asheboro, went home to be with her Lord and Savior on May 12, at home surrounded by her loved ones.

She was born in Chatham County on September 4, 1946 to Earl and Mozelle Routh, who proceeded her in death. She retired from the Randolph County Schools where she worked in the Seagrove School Cafeteria where she was known by many as the Ice Cream Lady. She had a heart of gold and loved everyone. She loved to spend time with her family and leaving them with many cherished memories. She loved her weekly hair appointments @ Ms. Jeanettes and her pineapple milkshakes from Cook-out. She was a Wonderful Mother, Mawmaw, G-mama, Sister and friend to many.

She was a member of Union Grove Christian Church where she would help with VBS, a member of the Women's Fellowship and then name changed to the Church Chicks and on the Kitchen Committee. She loved the Lord! She would often sing This Little Light of Mine! All of her Grandchildren and Great grandsons always loved her singing that. That song will always hold a special place in our hearts.

She was preceded in death by her husband Buck Lynch and her son in law David Stephens, Sr and Brother-in-law Kirby Parker.

Left to cherish her memory: Son Greg Lynch and wife Angelia and her daughter Tina Stephens. Her grandchildren and pride and joy Shellie Fields and husband Blaine, Scottie Stephens (aka as her little man), Abbie Stephens, Ellie Kidd and husband Isaac and Maranda Lynch. Great Grandsons who she loved dearly Nash and Hudson Fields and her Bonus Great Grandson who she loved like her own Eastley Jones. Her sister Diane Parker. Many extended family members. Her cat Dixie who kept her lap warm every day.

Visitation will be Sunday May 17, 2026 at Pugh Funeral Home from 6:00 pm-8:00 pm. Funeral will be Monday May 18, 2026 at 2:00 pm at Union Grove Christian Church with Pastor Scott Kidd and Pastor Garry Reeder officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery.

Family will receive friends immediately following the service and other times at the home of her daughter Tina Stephens.
