Jessie Mae Wright Weaver, age 96, of Asheboro passed away on May 27, 2025 at her home.
Mrs. Weaver was born in Cedar Falls on May 21, 1929 to William and Isabell Pritchard Wright. Jessie was a member of Bailey’s Grove Baptist Church for over 20 years, where she was known as “The Candy Lady.” She loved working in her garden and her favorite animal was “Fred the Mule.” Jessie loved her children and grandchildren and was the best mother-in-law ever. She was an excellent canner and a wonderful biscuit maker. She loved playing checkers and taught the entire family how to play. Jessie loved the color red and was a die-hard NC State Wolfpack fan.
In addition to her parents, Jessie was preceded in death by her husband, James Weaver, son, Don Weaver, and grandson, Brandon Tessner.
She is survived by her children, Jim Weaver (Margaret) of Asheboro, Wanda Weaver (John Painter) of Fishersville, VA, and Van Weaver (Loretta) of Asheboro; daughter-in-law, Teresa Weaver of Asheboro; 6 grandchildren; 7 great grandchildren; sister, Alline Wright of Asheboro; and numerous nieces, nephews, family, and friends.
The family would like to express a special thanks to Staywell Senior Care and Hospice of Randolph County for taking such good care of “Miss Jessie.”
The family will receive friends on Sunday, June 1, 2025 from 5:00-7:00 pm at Pugh Funeral Home, 437 Sunset Avenue in Asheboro. Funeral services will be held on Monday, June 2, 2025 at 1:00 pm at the Glenn “Mac” Pugh Chapel with Rev. Sean Cook officiating. Burial will follow at Randolph Memorial Park.
