James Alexander Steed  Randleman NC

James Alexander Steed, 90, was called home to be with His Lord and Savior, Thursday February 17, 2022. He was born on May 14, 1931 to AP and Mae Owens Steed who are also at home with The Lord.

James graduated from Randleman High School, Class of 1950. James was a native of Randleman and retired from Western Electric/AT&T after 39 years of holding the position as project manager. James was given endless opportunities to travel nationally and internationally in that position. He was a faithful lifelong member at First United Methodist Church of Randleman, and loved his Sunday school class. He was also a member of the rotary club for several years, and was a very active member of Randolph Asheboro YMCA . James was an avid rose Gardner, and always blessed his community with flowers. James is survived by his loving wife and life partner of 70 years, Rita Steed; Son Jim Steed (Pam); Daughter, Kathryn Simpson (Gene); Brother Bill Steed; Sister Annette Hicks; Grandchildren: Paige Elliott (Brad), Jared Steed, Andrew Simpson, Abigail Stubelt (Jared), and Angel Simpson. Great Grandchildren: Lanie, Blakeley, Ainsley Elliott and Jace Steed.

James rarely met a stranger. He greeted everyone with the same warmth and kindness in his smile. He was a confident man who loved to work with his hands, and gifted many people through his woodworking skills (especially his grandchildren). He loved his wife with all his heart, and found a way to compliment her in almost every conversation. He also made it a point every chance he got to surprise Rita with jewelry from all over. He was a family man, fiercely proud of his children and obsessed with his grandchildren and great grandchildren.  He rejoiced in his family's accomplishments and was always there for the big life events, usually with roses in hand. He took advantage of every opportunity he had to travel to Topsail Island Beach, and has gifted his family a spot to enjoy there for years to come. You could find him most days in his workshop, or in his chair with a Dr Pepper in hand. He wanted his family to know at the end of every conversation how good it was to see, or hear from them. He always ended these conversations in affirmation of how much he loved us. Our world is smaller without him in it, but we rejoice in our hope that lies in Christ alone. We are all better for knowing and loving our James (Papaw).
