James Allen South died March 2nd, 2025, at the age of 86 at Clapps Nursing Center in Pleasant Garden. James was born at home on May 30th, 1938, in North Kenova Ohio to Enoch South Sr. and Georgia South.
Jim was preceded in death by his parents, Enoch South and Georgia (South) Wheeler, by his beautiful wife Margaret, his siblings Enoch South Jr., Rosalie Hitchcock, Lillian Mae Neal, Linda Kay Tipton, Robert (Bob) South, Bill South, and David South. Jim is survived by his sons Dr. Stephen Alan South (Barbara) and William Eric South (Ann), a sister Jimilea Gutheil and his brother-in-law Alan McFeeters (Dale). Jim has 8 grandchildren he adored, Katherine South, Brittney Miller (Edmond), Morgan Weeks (Luke), Breanna Moffett (Kyle), Christine Alexander (TJ), Justin South and fiancée Maddison Reed, Bailey Newnam (Jake), Jacob South and girlfriend Alexis Shoffner. Jim has 5 great grandchildren that made him smile like no others Lettie Moffett, Chloe South, Jax Blair, Kallie Moffett and Mila Weeks.
Jim or Allen, as he was known to his siblings, honorably served in the US Air Force. Jim was married to the love of his life, Margaret McFeeters, August 7, 1960, in St. Albans, Vermont. They have two sons, Dr. Stephen A. South (Greensboro) and William E. South (Burlington). Jim and Margaret moved to NC in 1973 and finally settled in 1977 in Randleman NC where they lived their happiest days entertaining family and hosting numerous pool parties. They were members of New Salem United Methodist Church. Jim worked for Bendix and later retired from Wesley Long Hospital.
Jim will be missed terribly by all his family, but we are comforted knowing he is dancing again with his true love Margaret. The family would like to extend a special gratitude filled thank- you to his oncologist, Dr. Savage and his surgeon, Dr. Wilson of Wake Forest Baptist hospital, Dr. Duda, Clapp’s Nursing Facility in Pleasant Garden, Dr. Paterson, Dr. Avva and all the staff at Guilford Medical Associates for their amazing care of our beloved brother, father and Boppa.
Visitation with the family will be Sunday, March 9th from 1-2 pm at New Salem Methodist Church Fellowship Hall with the service to follow at 2 pm in the Sanctuary. In lieu of flowers, please consider making a memorial donation to a local food ministry or The Salvation Army. Jim was always donating and helping others when he was able to do so.
