James “Jim” Wayman Scott, Jr., age 76, of Seagrove passed away on January 5, 2026 at Randolph Hospital.
Mr. Scott was born in Dade County, Florida on October 29, 1949 to James and Evelyn Scott. He retired from Mid-State Plastics after almost 30 years of service. Jim was an avid golfer, loved watching Monday Night RAW, and was a former coach for Seagrove Pony League Baseball. Above all, Jim was a family man loved his grandchildren and great grandchildren dearly. He also loved playing contentious Rook games with his family and umpiring baseball for his son's games.
In addition to his parents, Jim was preceded in death by his brother, David Glain Scott.
He is survived by his wife, Mona Rae Marion Scott; sons, James Wayman Scott III (Jaclyn) of Maryland and Samuel Taylor Scott (Jennifer) of Seagrove; daughters, Christie Ann Scott and Jamie Michelle Scott both of Seagrove; grandchildren, Christian Nicole Farrish of Seagrove, Walter Farrish of Charlotte, and one grandchild on the way. He also has one great grandchild on the way; brother, Randy Robert Scott (Angie) of Seagrove; and sisters, Vonnie Jane Scott Martin of Troy, Melanie May Scott Green (Dave) of Stafford, VA, and Lorrie Sue Rowley (Dave) of Asheboro.
The family will receive friends on Monday, January 12, 2026 from 12 noon-12:50 pm at Whynot Wesleyan Church, 1402 NC Hwy 705 in Seagrove. Funeral services will follow on Monday at 1:00 pm at the church with Pastor Daniel Shuskey officiating. Burial will be held in the church cemetery.
