James Robert "Bob" Edwards

James Robert "Bob" Edwards, age 81, of Asheboro passed away on Sunday, June 19, 2022 at his home.

Mr. Edwards was born in Miami, Florida on December 5, 1940 to Ben Edwards, Sr. and Grace Lucile Smith Edwards.  Bob served his country as a Captain in the U.S. Air Force where he served with the Air Commandos in Vietnam.  He retired from Burlington Industries after 30 years of service and was a member of Oakhurst Baptist Church.  In addition to his parents, Bob was preceded in death by his brother Ben Edwards, Jr.

He is survived by his wife Carol Coble Edwards; sons, Bobby Edwards (Kathy) of Greensboro and Brad Edwards (Elizabeth) of Matthews; daughter, Amy Smith (Stephen) of Greenville; step daughter, Melanie Burgess (Kevin) of Asheboro; and grandchildren, Ryan, Kathryn, and Savanah Edwards, Jacob and Emily Grace Smith, and Brooke and Brett Burgess.

A memorial graveside service will be held on Tuesday, June 28, 2022 at 11:00 am at Randolph Memorial Park with Dr. Rob Roberts officiating with military honors by the Randolph County Honor Guard of which he was a former member.  The family will receive friends following the graveside service.
