James (Jim) Alexander Steed, 69, of Randleman, went to his heavenly home on Wednesday,
April 1st, 2026. He left this Earth very peacefully with his loved ones by his side.
Jim was born in Greensboro, NC, on March 27th, 1957, to James A. Steed and Rita Lamb Steed
who are also at home with the Lord.
Jim graduated from Randleman High School, class of 1975. After completing high school, he
went on to work for Norfolk Southern Railroad as a signalman. He was devoted to the Railroad
for 20 years. After retiring from the Railroad, Jim went on to work at Timken in Randleman. He
loved his time at Timken and the friendships that were made during his time there.
Jim’s favorite place to be was Topsail Island, NC. He loved to be at the beach, and he especially
enjoyed being at his parents’ beach house. Numerous vacations were spent in Surf City from a
very young age with his family. Jim also enjoyed being with his family at Badin Lake throughout
the years.
Once Jim retired from work, he could be found in his yard working to keep it beautiful or
spending time at his parents’ home. He loved to grill and spend time watching NASCAR. He was
a lifelong UNC fan. Jim loved his grandchildren and was always ready to hear about their
activities. He adored spending time with his animals and having them near him always.
Jim is survived by his daughter, Paige Elliott (Brad); Grandchildren, Lanie, Blakeley, Ainsley
Elliott and Jace Steed. Sister, Kathryn Simpson (Gene); His is also survived by his Nephew,
Andrew Simpson; Nieces, Abigail Stubelt (Jared) and Angel Simpson.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Pam Wood Steed; son, Jared Steed; and both of his
parents.
The family would like to extend a heartfelt thank you to the wonderful nurses and staff at Clapps
Convalescent Home and Hospice of Asheboro. Their care and love for Jim these past few weeks
were more than we could have asked for.
