Irene LaVonne Bond, 73, of Asheboro (formerly of Stroudsburg, PA) passed on January 7, 2026 surrounded by the people she loved.

Born September 8, 1952 in Stroudsburg, PA she was the daughter of the late James Bonser and Martha (Wood). She moved to Asheboro after the loss of her husband Robert in 2009 and quickly made many lifelong friends. She worked at Asheboro Elastics Corporation until her retirement. She was a kind person who had the gift of gab and could talk to anyone anywhere she went. She will be missed by so many.

One of her favorite places here was the home she worked so hard to get by herself with her 2 cats, Polly and Edy, and her dog, Maggy. She also cared for many beautiful plants.

She was an avid crafter-anything from floral arrangements to cakes, beautiful afghans and so much more. Back home people knew her as the “Cake Lady.” She was a Huge Neil Diamond fan, attending 13 of his concerts all over the U.S.

Those left to cherish her memory are her oldest daughter, Lisa Whyte and her husband Michael of North Carolina; her life partner, Vance Jarrell; nephews, Troy Dewitt and Kevin Bonser of Pennsylvania, Larry Dewitt of Maryland; and many other nieces and nephews and her family and friend son/daughter Jason and Tina of Pennsylvania.

Her life partner notes that Irene was a kid at heart…never lost that sense of fun…they enjoyed many trips to the mountains or beach…she loved Vance so much.

She was kind to strangers and people in need and always believed in the Lord!!

We will have a memorial/life celebration here in North Carolina…April/May. Her daughter will try to post and contact on Facebook or contact her family, they will know.
