Hubert Lee White, age 93, of Asheboro died peacefully in his sleep Friday, October 7, 2016 at son’s home in Winston- Salem.
Mr. White was born July 30, 1923 in Chatsworth, GA, the son of Robert Lee and Lily Belle Charles White. Hubert came to Asheboro in 1941, married the love of his life, Dorothy L. Snider and served in the Merchant Marines during WWII from 1943 to 1946. He was formerly employed with Blue Gem Manufacturing Co., Life of Virginia, and was retired from S&H Tackle Shop. After retirement, he enjoyed working for Hoffman Auto Sales in Asheboro. He was a long time member of Browers Memorial Wesleyan and Rushwood Park Wesleyan Churches. Hubert was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Dorothy “Dot” and his son Donnie, son in law, Van Spencer, and four siblings.
He is survived by his daughters, Jean White Hogan and her husband, Gene of New Hope and Carol White Spencer of Smyrna, GA.; Son: Ed White and his wife, Susan of Winston- Salem, Seven Grandchildren, Seven Great Grandchildren, Two Great Great Grandchildren; Sister, Ruby White Lusk of Cartersville, GA, and several beloved nieces and nephews.
The family will receive friends Monday, October 10, 2016 from 6:00-8:00 PM at Pugh Funeral Home, 437 Sunset Avenue, Asheboro, NC. The funeral will be held on Tuesday at 11:00 AM in the Pugh Funeral Home Chapel with Dr. Brent Tysinger and his son in law, Rev. Gene Hogan officiating. Burial will follow Randolph Memorial Park in Asheboro with military honors by the Randolph County Honor Guard.
